St Helier Town Hall Art Collection

We have been making art related projects for many years now so we were delighted when the Parish of St Helier came to us to create a film covering their own art collection, currently held at the parish hall. With pieces documenting the Battle of Jersey and photography dating back to the 1800s it’s a fascinating collection often overlooked by the general public and well worth a visit.

The Battle of Jersey Parish of St Helier Art Collection St Helier art collection

The Parish of St Helier has an incredible collection of artwork on display in the Town Hall, which the Constable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft describes as a “‘well kept secret”.

The art work has been collected over numerous decades and features paintings left to the Parish by relatives of former Constable of St Helier, Pierre Le Sueur, depictions of historical moments in the Island’s history, such as the Battle of Jersey and the Bombing of St Helier Harbour, gifts from the Parish’s Twin Towns and a collection of John Le Capelain prints of Queen Victoria’s visit to Jersey and the scenery of the Island.

Top Three Requirements

    • Document existing artworks to accompany a physical brochure.

    • Tell the story of the collection.

    • Create a film to engage and encourage visitors to the collection.

Client Brief

Working in partnership with Private & Public, a Jersey based modern and contemporary art dealership, we were commissioned to create a film to publicise this little known but hugely significant art collection. With an over arching interview from the Constable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, coupled with filmed imagery of the artworks themselves and their surroundings, the Parish of St Helier should be able to show visitors what to expect when they come and see the collection as well as understand more of its origins.
